Ryde Arts Festival is a community-based celebration of the talents of the town and wider island: we commission new work and grow opportunities for professional artists. We involve many individuals and groups in all our projects so that through collaboration we can all achieve exciting outcomes. This year is the culmination of a two-year project called GROWRYDE drawing inspiration from one of the town’s allotments.
This year’s Festival week grew to a longer celebration as our programme encompassed working with Quarr Abbey, new music, dance , an installation on Ryde Esplanade’s Platform 2, the Island’s first Agricultural Show, a moving garden cycled along the seafront, a procession of wheelbarrows and an illuminated greenhouse joining Ryde’s traditional Carnival.
This small exhibition seeks to show how, led and edited by our professional photographer Julian Winslow, many other contributors, using their phones to seize the moment as they visited, took part and enjoyed their own involvement in this creative process.
The exhibition is in Julia’s Tearoom so is free to view.
