Springtime Special is back!

Join us on Wednesday, 24th April, at 4pm in the tearoom for jazzy sounds and delicious cakes, and then at 5pm in the Olympus Gallery for poetry with Maggie, Barry and Pete

Enjoy toe-tapping jazz from Sapphyre and inspirational words from three poets. Maggie Sawkins has won the Ted Hughes Award and Barry Smith was shortlisted by the BBC Proms Poetry/Bread & Roses Awards.
Barry Smith will celebrate the Island’s links with Tennyson, Swinburne and Lewis Carroll, including performing some of the verse from his musical, Alice. Pete Darby with musicians will celebrate his friendship with Pink Floyd’s Syd Barrett. Maggie Sawkins will read from her inspirational book The House Where Courage Lives.  Dr Brian Hinton Oxford, scholar in literature,  author and Chairman at Dimbola will be introducing and David Glasson of the BonzoBills, the latest incarnation of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, will be co-performing the Alice (Lewis Carroll) songs.

All set here in the historic Dimbola, home of pioneer photographer Julia Margaret Cameron.

Presented by the South Downs Poetry Festival on tour. www.sdpf.org.uk
